If you've been anywhere near the Pokémon card community lately, you've probably heard someone mention GameStop Power Packs. But what actually are they? How do they work? And what's the difference between ripping a Power Pack and just buying a booster from your local shop?
This guide breaks the whole thing down — what they are, how the four-step loop works, what the PSA Vault actually is, the six tiers from $25 to $2,500, and how to get started — whether that's purchasing directly on the platform or watching and booking pulls on a live stream.
The Short Version
GameStop Power Packs are digital mystery packs created in partnership between GameStop and PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator). The full digital platform launched to the public on April 15th, 2026 at powerpacks.com, with four categories available at launch: Pokémon, Football, Basketball, and Baseball. Pokémon is the flagship — and what you'll see on most creator streams — but the system works identically across all four.
Each pack contains a real, physical, PSA-graded card. You buy the pack online, it's opened — either by you digitally or live on a creator's stream — and the card inside is transferred directly to your PSA Vault, a secure, insured storage facility in Delaware where your card is held until you decide to ship it, sell it, or keep it stored.
The key point: these are not digital collectibles. Every Power Pack corresponds to a real, authenticated, graded physical card that you own. The card existed, was graded, and was sitting in the vault before you spent a single dollar.
How the Process Works
- Choose your tier. Power Packs come in six price levels — Starter ($25), Silver ($50), Gold ($100), Platinum ($500), Diamond ($1,000), and Lunar ($2,500). Higher tiers offer a deeper card pool with higher potential value.
- Purchase the pack. You buy through the official Power Packs platform at powerpacks.com, or through an approved creator like Roaring Sensei who opens them live on stream.
- The reveal. Your pack is opened and you discover which PSA-graded card is inside. If you're watching a live stream, this happens on camera in front of the whole community.
- Card goes to your vault. The card is instantly secured in your PSA Vault account. It's insured, stored in a climate-controlled facility, and linked to your account.
- You decide what happens next. Keep it in the vault, have it shipped to your door, sell it through PSA's marketplace tools, or use Instant Buyback to cash out immediately.
What Is the PSA Vault?
The PSA Vault is PSA's secure storage and management facility, located in Delaware. Climate-controlled year-round, 24/7 security, and fully insured. Every card is individually tracked by its unique cert number, linked directly to your account.
Worth knowing: Pokémon cards are surprisingly sensitive to humidity and temperature swings — the kind of variation your living room sees between seasons. Over months or years, that can affect a high-value slab. In the vault, conditions are stable year-round. For a $500 or $5,000 card, that's not a trivial benefit.
One bonus of the Delaware location: Power Pack purchases aren't subject to sales tax, because the point of sale and custody is the vault itself.
From your vault dashboard, you can:
- View your full collection of graded cards
- Request shipping to your home address (worldwide)
- List cards for sale on eBay directly through PSA
- Accept Instant Buyback offers from Power Packs directly
- Track the market value of your cards over time
What Makes Power Packs Different from Regular Packs?
When you rip a traditional booster pack from a shop, you get raw, ungraded cards. If you want to grade them, you have to submit to PSA yourself — a process that costs money, takes weeks, and involves trusting the postal system not to damage your card in transit.
With Power Packs, every card is already graded and slabbed before you open it. There's no handling risk, no grading queue, and no shipping anxiety. Your card is authenticated, sealed, and sitting in a professional vault from the moment you reveal it.
What Categories Are Available?
At launch, Power Packs offered four categories: Pokémon, Football, Basketball, and Baseball. Pokémon is the flagship and accounts for the majority of creator stream content — it's what you'll see opened on Roaring Sensei's streams. The PSA grading system and vault infrastructure work identically across all four categories.
What's the Live Stream Experience?
One of the most exciting aspects of Power Packs is the live reveal. Approved creators — like Roaring Sensei — host scheduled live streams on YouTube, X, and Twitch where they open Power Packs on camera in front of their community.
Here's what that looks like:
- You book a pack through the creator's website
- On stream day, the creator opens your pack live on camera
- The community reacts in real time as cards are revealed
- Your card is transferred to your PSA Vault after the reveal
- Watching is completely free — you only pay if you want a pack opened
The live stream format is what sets Power Packs apart from any other collectible product. It's part entertainment, part community event, and part collecting experience all in one.
Starter — $25
Gold — $100
Lunar — $2,500
